Mike was for many years a much valued member of our art history group with the WEA and Lewes U3A. He was a thoughtful, gentle and supremely intelligent person who enriched our sessions with his wider range of knowledge including musical interests. A vivid memory is when he played one of his early musical instruments to help us set the scene for Tudor paintings and also early Netherlandish works. He extended our knowledge of the colour wheel when we were examining pointillism. He was unassuming and friendly and we will all miss him. I feel very sad to hear of his death.
