I have nothing but fond memories of Mike, and from his first gentle hint that "you might find it interesting to measure eye movements on more than just the horizontal axis" his influence on my research and career was profound. His enthusiasm for science and experimentation was infectious, and the breadth and depth of his knowledge was inspiring. He was a true pioneer in the field of eye tracking, and his research will continue to influence and guide future generations, just as it influenced me and so many others who were lucky enough to work with him.
